Say hello to...

Kortnie Gadeke

Game On, Victoria Park

“Everyone in a gym is going through the exact same learning process!”

As a kid, Kortnie was always on the move, and in her teens, all her free time was dedicated to sports. Whilst sport was always a massive part of her life, it wasn’t until a knee injury that Kortnie recognized the impact exercise had on every aspect of her life. Coming back from injury and learning to celebrate her body for what it can do gave her a new appreciation for health. With a career in psychology and a passion for understanding people and human behaviour, Kortnie recognises that there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to health and fitness. As a trainer, she loves being able to connect and collaborate with people, help them navigate their goals and barriers, and create meaningful changes, stating that “helping people discover their potential is one of the biggest gifts I could ever give or receive”.

To those who are just beginning their fitness journey, Kortnie says that it’s easy to feel overwhelmed when trying something for the first time. She says to “Be patient with yourself as you learn new skills. Remember, everyone in a gym is going through the exact same learning process—attempting new things, failing, and improving. Health is an ever-evolving journey, so whether it’s your first day or you’re a professional athlete, you are not alone on this journey.”

Kortnie works closely with clients in the early stages of their journey to really understand who they are and what they need. Together, Kortnie and her clients then implement evidence-based training methods to create a custom program that aligns with their goals, lifestyle, and preferences. Kortnie wants people to get excited about exercise, whether that’s lifting heavy weights, interval sprints, high jumps, or handstands. She says “We will train hard, try new things, have a good laugh as we go and smash some goals.”

When she isn’t at the gym, Kortnie likes having a beach session or adventuring with her French Bulldog ‘Brick’; otherwise, she’s doing something creative such as designing, thrifting, and sewing clothes.
